Submissions
- Do I retain rights? return to top
Yes. You may submit and remove your original works at anytime. Also, you may choose to keep your submitted material private so that only those who are assigned to review it will see it.
- What is the difference between private and public submissions? return to top
Public:
Public submissions are great for the enthusiast who wants to get their work out for the world to see. This option will get as much feedback as possible on your submitted work. A public submission will appear in our content catalog of submissions and can be commented on by anyone with a free or paid membership.Private:
Private submissions are for those working to polish their work before sending it to a publisher. A private submission is for those who wish to keep their work between themselves and the reviewers. If you plan to publish your work professionally then this option will help you keep first rights of publication as only your reviewers are able to see the work.- Do I have to do reviews before I can submit my work for review? return to top
No. You are only able to submit one work at a time. Once you have completed your assigned peer reviews you may submit another work for review. Once submitted your work will be submitted to your peers for review. These reviews are assigned to you based on the item you submitted as well as past submissions to determine your peers.
- How do I submit my work to get reviews? return to top
After you have uploaded your work go to your account page, find the item, and click the "submit for review" icon.
- Can I re-submit my work for review? return to top
Absolutely. We hope that you will take the time to improve your work from the suggestions you receive. When you are ready to get more feedback, simply find your item and click the "submit for review" icon.
- How do I upload my work? return to top
By going to the upload page you will be presented with a form that will guide you in the upload process. You will need to specify a category, title, description and tags as well as stating that the work is an original work of your own.
- Can I submit Adult Material? return to top
No. We allow each member to choose to hide profanity as they view a story, however the content itself should still adhere to our terms and conditions and be of PG-13 type content.
Private groups can establish their own content policies. Review Fuse does prohibit pornographic and/or illegal material from being posted in private groups.
Reviews
- Do I have to do reviews before I can submit my work for review? return to top
No. You are only able to submit one work at a time. Once you have completed your assigned peer reviews you may submit another work for review. Once submitted your work will be submitted to your peers for review. These reviews are assigned to you based on the item you submitted as well as past submissions to determine your peers.
- How many reviews will I be required to complete? return to top
Each time you submit an item for review you will be asked to complete 4 reviews of similar items. If you are a premium member you will be asked to review 2. In-turn you will receive 3 reviews.
- How long do reviews need to be? return to top
There is no required length. However, those being reviewed will be allowed to rate how helpful your review was. We use the review rating as part of the peer matching process. Those who give good reviews are matched with peers who also give reviews.
- My reviewer did not do a good review, what can I do? return to top
You are allowed to rate the helpfulness of your reviewer. If the reviewer did not give you any feedback then rate them poorly. We will monitor when this happens and possibly remove the offending review as well as granting additional reviews as necessary.
- When will my submission be reviewed? return to top
How long until a submissions is reviewed depends on a number of factors. The biggest however is determined by how fast you are doing your assigned reviews. As you do your reviews your submissions priority increases and you will receive your reviews faster if all your assigned reviews are done. You can generally expect to receive a review within 72 hours of completing yours, however it may take up to 5 days for some categories and lengths of work.
- How long do I have to complete my assigned review? return to top
You have 12 hours to complete a review once you have requested to start the review. You may start reviews whenever it is convenient for you. Please note, you will not receive more reviews than you have completed. So the sooner you do your reviews the sooner your work is critiqued.
Memberships
- Can I submit work if I signed up for a free membership? return to top
Free members have access to the tools they need to give and receive peer critiques and interact with our writing group. Free members will be matched to their peers based on their review quality score, if you give detailed critiques we will match you to others who will reciprocate. Free members do not have access to premium features such as private writing groups and the all-in-one review page.
- Do I have limits when using a free membership? return to top
Some areas are available to premium members only, such as writing groups. But for the most part, there are no limits on free members (you even have access to our professionally developed writing lessons).
- What is the difference between Free and Premium Memberships? return to top
Both memberships have all the tools required to participate in a high quality online writing group using the same technology to match writers with their peers. Premium Members have features on top of free members that can help more serious writers in their goals to improve their writing. While Premium Members support the community with their yearly membership fee, free members support it by doing one extra review per submission. See the chart below for a summary of the advanced features premium members receive. We have included detailed descriptions of these features after the chart.

Give and Receive Reviews: Giving and Receiving make up the core of the Review Fuse service. You can learn as you strive to help others with their work and get valuable feedback on your own work from other Review Fuse members. Free members can have their work reviewed, but they must do 4 reviews for every 3 they receive (not a bad deal if you’re learning from the reviews you give as well as the ones you receive). As a premium member, you only have to do 2 reviews to receive 3. This balance allows members to contribute to the community in different ways, some with an extra review and others monetarily.
All-in-one Review: The All-in-one Review allows you to view multiple reviews consolidated for easy viewing on one page. This allows you to easily identify large issues, themes, or problems that have been pointed out by multiple reviewers. If only one person points out a problem, you might want to take their feedback with a grain of salt as opinions can differ. If multiple reviewers are pointing to the same thing, it’s probably something you should fix.
Blacklist Reviewers: You are in complete control over who is not allowed to review your work.
Preferred Reviewers: Do you really like a particular reviewer? Let us know and you will receives reviews from them whenever possible.
Public vs. Private Submissions: When uploading your work, you can choose to submit it to our public content catalog or to keep the work private, meaning the work will only be shown to assigned reviewers. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. Uploading to the public catalog can get you more exposure and more reviews. You can email a link to your work to friends, family, or colleagues and all will be able to read it or even review it if they sign up for a Free Review Fuse account. However, if a work is posted on any webpage that is publicly available, some publishers won’t be willing to accept the work for publication. If you plan to get your work published, you should probably keep it private so you don’t lose your first right of publication. Public and private submissions are available to free and premium members.
Writing Groups: Premium members can get specialized advice by joining or creating topic-focused writing groups. Find a group that suits your taste, or create you own. Groups can be public (shown to all) or private (accessible only via special invitation and password from group creator). This can also be a great way to augment the utility of traditional, offline writing groups. Groups can save time and gas money by conveniently “meeting” online more often and getting together in person for special activities and readings.
Gravatar: Add some personality to your Review Fuse account by associating a Gravatar image. Don’t have a Gravatar account? Create one now, it’s easy and it’s free. Plus you can use Gravatar for other many other blogs, forums, and other community sites.

Ranking
- How do I find out how I rank compared to others using your site? return to top
We do not rank those who post their works on our site. We do however match you with your peers based on proprietary software which examines your profile, submission category, and previous submission history. While this process is great for matching you with peers it does not provide any sort of meaningful ranking. While the work of some members may be more popular than that of others, to try provide overall skill rankings would be an exercise in futility as we facilitate reviews for different media types in different categories. How could you compare someone who writes poems with someone who writes mysteries? They are too different.
