The underused weapon that is the short description.

I completely agree, many poems I review have nothing in the short description section, and it leaves me wondering what the poet was actually trying to achieve or say with their piece.
don't do poems, but saw some weren't reading the description, said screw it, and put it at the top before the story- also do a synopsis before each new chapter to help folks out jumping in the middle of things- I've seen others do the same thing-
Why does no one read the writers description of their work? This is more apparent in poetry, but a writer writes what their piece is about, and then the reviewer makes up a load of rubbish about the poem. The short description is a gift, read how the writer describes his work, then see if this actually comes across.
I do believe that people should have their own interpretation of something, but when they completely disregard the writers thoughts their, almost certainly, bad review is unfair, to say the least.
