Get My Book Critiqued

This page is designed to help you find peers to critique your books with.

In order help you find an author to critique with please “Leave a Reply” below to introduce yourself and your book (genre, length, etc…). Please use your Review Fuse user name in the “Name” field so authors can find you on our site.

When you find an author(s) on this page to critique your book with, invite them to a private Review Fuse group, and submit your book chapters to the group for critique. If you set up a private group for book critiques, I recommend setting the assigned reviews to zero. If you use zero assigned review the “view this groups public submissions” link will allow you to find and critique each other’s chapters. You can access private groups from the My Account page via the Group Membership button.

    Hello!

I have a memoir that is drafted, but that needs structural help. It’s about growing up in Africa in the 70s and 80s with parents who did international development work. The draft is about 230 pages and I’d LOVE to have someone read it. Of course I’d be happy to read someone elses book-length draft as well!

    Take care,
    Adrienne

I write historicals: anything from Augustine’s Rome to Bootlegging in Minnesota. Pretty much everything has a moral basis to it and a downright Faith oriented approach. My novel, “Lady of the Land” leans closest to publication, but even there I’m doing major revisions. I split it in two and may divide the second book in two. It revolves around Celtic princess cursed into a dragon 300 years before Christ. Asked by the messenger/warrior Angels to help guard the stable in Bethlehem Jesus’ baby laughter transforms back into a woman, but with enhanced abilities from her dragon days. A quest to free her land leads to a horrendous battle with an evil older than Lucifer. along the way she enlists “Fallen Angels,” the gods of the Greeks and Slavs, etc. who remained God’s allies, but became too willful to dwell in the Holy Presence.
some have been perverted into early vampire creatures and you can guess the rest. (No cute Robert Pattinsons here. Seductive, but evil.) Christian, yes, but open-minded emphasizing forgiveness.

    For Adrienne:
I would be happy to review your work. I’d like you to review mine as well. My novel was just realeased and will be available soon. In the meantime, I can send you what I submitted to my publisher as Microsoft Word .doc. Can you receive that? I’m not sure where we go from here.

Not to begin with a cliche, but hello, everybody! I’m unpublished, a little cross-genre (horror/sci-fi/fantasy) and I’ve written several novels. In best neurotic tradition, I’ve never submitted anything for publishing, or even review. I’d like to change that. My target audience (at this point) is 17-24. All my main characters fall into that age group (inadvertent, but maybe I’ll end up filling that niche…pray for me!). It’s natural, completely unintended, but it works for me. Hopefully it’ll work for others.
Now, I’m in a constant state of revision, and at any one point, I’ll only be ready to submit 1-3 chapters. It’ll be ready to go like clockwork, though; I’m not a faker, just a little insecure. Anyway, I’d love to trade around with anybody who writes in these genres; not that I’m trying to be discriminatory, it’s just that we’ll be able to learn from each other. I actually posted the prologue to my current favorite project (Prologue: The Warder). Before you commit, you can take a look at that, and if if you’re interested, maybe we can trade! Thanks for your time, and best of luck! Hopefully we’ll all end up on the bestseller list.

I have a number of older poems that are in final revision stage and want to get on to some new work but don’t want these to fall by the way side. A few of them were published in small lit mags (mostly now out of print) with right reverting back to me. I definitely do not want to send these out one at a time or in groups of three - even if I self publish. I am looking for some feedback, interest in exchanging work, potential avenues. I’ve been private so far here. Not looking for online publication. Any ideas? I have had a few great reviewers that perhaps might be interested but don’t know how to contact them.
    Thanks, Patricia

    Adrienne:

I am writing historical fiction myself, set in an island off the coast of New Zealand. Not exactly the same as yours, but we’re probably a lot closer to each other than we are to other works on this site. My book is nearly finished, just missing a couple chapters in the middle. I am on here as StarlingFantail.
