Congragulations to emcat. Very nice job on the story. The descriptors are vivid and well done. The reader can feel the emotional anguish and longing of the boy as he yearns for the toy. It all seems almost Norman Rockwell'ish and the reader expects a feel good lesson to come and then - BAM! It is a good portrayal of a poor child and his family. Even though the mother is just a passing byline and Aunt Tina and Uncle Mitch are just kind of there - they add a depth to the background that causes the reader to imagine a whole life for the boy. Again - congragulations and good job.
