I like seeing another contest…………I think it will really help and motivate people to nto only write better stories, but to also to complete competent reviews! In reviewing others work, they will be able to review/critique their own work better. So I guess, what I am trying to say is that I appreciate the fact that using their reviews as a way to pick a winner is great!!! Hope it works well!

Will the runners up be announced too?

Would it be possible to extend the word count (with the fortunate expense of a later announcement date) for future contests? I like reading stories beneath 3000 words, but when the general “short story” maximum length is at about 10,000 words, it seems like available space is being ignored. However, maintaining the 3000 word limit may strengthen the editing necessity.

Perhaps, through my uncertainty, other opinions will emerge. All I’m asking for at this time is debate.

  6. Jacob Says:

We are gong to host monthly writing contests. In April we are going to host our first flash fiction contest. In May we could host a short story contest with a 10,000 word limit. Should we put a minimum word limit on the contest? Only accept stories that are 8,000 to 10,000 words?

  7. Jacob Says:

We have never announced the runners up before. We will announce the top 3, but only seek permission to publish the winning story on our blog.

  8. Mac Says:

Forcing an extended word count would be worse than forcing 3000 maximum or less (probably the case in the april flash fiction contest), but I think the extended word count could allow for more creative possibilities.

  9. JD Kennedy Says:

‘Jacob says: We will announce the top 3′
Yeah thats what I meant to ask. Can’t wait!
