How Should We Facilitate Book Critiques?

Chapters are flying all over Review Fuse. We originally intended to only have first chapters submitted for critique. However, members have been submitting chapters 2, 3, 4, and 5 for critique as well. As a result of book critique popularity we are looking for a better way to handle books.

The temporary solution is for you to find two or three authors on Review Fuse and critique each other’s books. We have set up the Get My Book Critiqued page to help authors find each other. This page also briefly explains how private groups can help with book critiques.

More importantly, we would like to develop a permanent solution for managing books critiques. How do you think we should facilitate the book critique process?

I believe it should be something not too complicated, say make two distinct categories for the “Upload your work” page: “book” and “chapter”.
If “book” is selected, then do not allow for actual text to be entered (or selected from a local file with the browse button), simply remove “Stpe 2″.
If “chapter” is selected, add an intermediate step where the writer can select to which of his previously created books he adds the current chapter. The chapters should be numbered automatically and the user can still add them a title, and the user should also be allowed to change the orders of the chapters in a book.

Regarding critics, reviewers should eb allowed to review chosen chapters as well as the whole book. Hence, some specialized review tab should be created for books and for chapters other than the first.
For more complexity, chapters could also have categories as prologue, regular chapter, epilogue, etc, and provide specialized review tabs for each sub-category. But that’s maybe too much complexity :)

And that’s pretty much all, as I see it
